first_imgSamantha Hutton Travel Counsellors announces that Samantha Hutton will be appointed as General Manager of Travel Counsellors Australia, having previously worked in the industry here and abroad. Her energy in helping us to recruit more agents and our expertise and support in empowering the agents to build lasting relationships with their customers will enable us to establish a clear leading position in the Australian market.” Hutton takes over from Travel Counsellors Ireland General Manager Cathy Burke, who has been running the business since May 2010 and will return to her role in Ireland in early 2011. The company, which operates in six countries and supports 1,200 full time travel agents worldwide, has seen global sales increase by 30%.  In its last financial year ending 31 October 2010, Travel Counsellors has achieved total group sales of over AUD $500 million, with the Australia operation alone achieving total sales of AUD $40 million, a 90% increase on the previous year. Commenting on her new role, Samantha, who hails from Melbourne says, “I know that Travel Counsellors will continue to be a huge success here in Australia and I am delighted to have been given this opportunity to build upon what has already been achieved by the team.” The company’s agents are also reaping the benefits of these sales, with the average income per Travel Counsellor up by 20% worldwide.
